Amma by Kamau Amu Patton: A Sonic Installation

A sonic iteration of Amma by Kamau Amu Patton, commissioned by Rooster/Lion for A-139547204, an exhibition exploring alien and alienation. New and evolving sonic transmissions exploring sonic ecologies, soundings in the vast expanse. The circle, the spiral, the whirlwind that spins silently and scatters its contents in all directions, forming all. Patton’s Amma variations explore sound atmospheres, sonic transmissions, as affective environment, as circumstance, object, or condition by which one is surrounded. Sonic fields, sonic forms which arise from an ecology of sounds, hybrid technologies, augmented environments, sonic phenomena, sound formations. Soundings in the vast expanse, modulating forms, patterns, cycles of interference. A fault, a fracture, a trace of what was, synchrotronic, a pattern of what was. A surround, a fluid formlessness, a continuum, a locality where two realms touch, at the threshold between worlds.
